How to connect to the internet while roaming overseas


Having trouble accessing the Internet while roaming? Don't worry, we've got a checklist below that might help solve the issue!

  1. Do you have Data Roaming activated your handset? 
  2. Do you have an active Roaming plan selected? 
  3. Is there any mobile or data coverage at your location?
  4. Does your handset have the right APN (Access Point Names) settings?

 

Do you have Mobile Data and  Data Roaming activated on your phone?

In order to use Mobile Data while roaming, you should first check that your Data Roaming switch is turned on. (Refer to the images below)

 

 [Android Devices]

  

1. From Settings, select Mobile Network.

 2. Activate Mobile Data and Data Roaming
   

[iOS Device]

  

1. On Settings, Select Mobile and activate Mobile Data.

 2. Select Mobile Data Options and activate Data Roaming

Does your handset have the right APN (Access Point Names) settings?

To ensure that your handset can use data roaming, choose your device's operating system below and try the following steps:

 

 

 Android Version 6.0 and below 

1. From your main home screen, select Applications

2. Find and select Settings

3. Select Mobile Networks 4. Select Access Point Names
      
   
5. Select New APN and enter the following details           
      
   
7. Almost done! Select the top right button and proceed.    8. Select SAVE to ensure that details are saved
      

 

 9. Once the new APN Settings are saved, you will need to restart your handset to ensure the settings are activated.

 10. Once your handset is restarted, you can now try browsing the Internet! Image result for orange check list icon



 

 

 Android Version 7.0 and above

1. From your main home screen, select Applications/Apps 


2. Find and select Settings

3. Select Connections       4. Select Mobile Networks 
    
   
5. Select Access Point Names      6. Select ADD
    
   
7. Enter the following details:   8. Select SAVE to ensure that details are saved 
      

 

9. Once the new APN Settings are saved, you will need to restart your handset to ensure the settings are activated

  iOS 10.0.1 and above 

1. From your main home screen, select Settings.

2. Select Mobile 3. Activate Mobile Data 

 

4. Select Mobile Data Options and activate Data Roaming 

 5. Select Mobile Data Network 

 

6. Ensure that the APN field is filled with wapaccess.co.nz

  
 

 

7. Once the new APN Settings are saved, you will need to restart your handset to ensure the settings are activated.
