APN (data) settings for Windows Phones

What are the APN or data settings for a Windows 6 or 6.5 phone?

These settings are for Windows phone OS 6 or 6.5 but may apply to generic Windows phone systems.

Create an Access Point Name (APN)

1. Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select networks > New

a. Name: Skinny

2. Modem>New

a. Name: Skinny apn

b. Select Cellular Line (GPRS/3G)

c. Next

d. APN name: wapaccess.co.nz

e. Next

f. Finish

 

Applying the APN settings above as default

1. Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select networks

a. Internet: Skinny

b. Work: Skinny

 

 

What are the APN or data settings for a Windows 7, 7.5 or 8 phone?

You will need to go into your settings,

Create an access point (APN)

1. Settings > Mobile Network > Add or Edit Internet APN

 APN: wapaccess.co.nz

Username: <blank>

Password: <blank>

Show password:  unchecked

Proxy server (URL):  <blank>

Proxy port:  <blank>

IP type: IPv4v6

 

Create MMS access point:

1. Settings > Mobile Network > Add or Edit MMS APN

APN: wapaccess.co.nz

Username: <blank>

Password: <blank>

WAP gateway (URL): 210.55.11.73

WAP gateway port: 80

MMSC (URL): http://mms.mmsaccess.co.nz

MMSC port: 80

IP type: IPv4v6

 

What are the APN or data settings for a Windows 10 phone?

Window's 10 phones are set up slightly differently, and require you to take some different steps to change the APN settings.

1. Go to Settings (swipe down from the top of you screen and select All Settings)

2. Select Network & wireless > Cellular & SIM > SIM settings

3. Scroll down and select Add Internet APN

4. Add the following settings:

  • Profile name: Skinny
  • APN: wapaccess.co.nz

5. Everything else can be left blank. Select Save, and tap the back button to go back to SIM info.

6. Finally, scroll down and select the profile name "Skinny". Select Apply. You should see the word 'Activated', which means you are now connected.
